As a gesture to formally recognize the dedication of Professors Vuchic and Morlok to the Transportation Systems Engineering Program at Penn, a dinner was held on February 27, 1998 at the Gold Standard/Palladium Restaurant on Penn's campus.

At the dinner, a commemorative plaque was presented to Dr. Vuchic along with a leather briefcase as a token of our appreciation of his dedicated efforts with Penn's program, which has profoundly and positively influenced each of us as alumni. Although Dr. Morlok was unable to attend the dinner, Dr. Shinya Kikuchi and Bob Wright presented an identical commemorative plaque and leather briefcase to him at his office on March 11.

The event was successful not only with regard to expressing our gratitude to the professors, but also in further establishing and solidifying relationships among Penn Transportation Systems Engineering Alumni. This event was also significant as the first regional gathering of alumni since the May 1997 TE 30 Reunion, and it set the stage for the formalization of the TSEAC.
